Haven't done much drawing the last few days - too much day work and too many evening headaches. Did these this morning.
And I'm thinking about what I want to do for the new year besides practice (etc, etc) and redesign the website. I want to work on figure studies more and get some narrative into the drawings. I want the drawings to be more then just some pretty pictures. It's got to mean more to me because the viewer will take it to mean whatever they want, there's no control of that. I see it as phases - the first were all those ATCs the beginning of the year. They gave me the confidence to go bigger. The 2nd phase being the color and the line. To me the phases were more like jumps because one day I couldn't draw a real person and the next day I could. One day my eyes were dots and the next they're eyes. I know I need to make that next jump I just don't know what it is yet. I'm sure it will happen when I'm not looking.
I'm teaching myself to draw here only instead of a classroom it's on line. I think it's good that I post everything including the junk. It makes me take a step back and look at it objectively as if I didn't draw it. It takes away a little of the isolation, a way of saying I did this, I exist, I'm right here.
Your drawings are so fresh and quirky -- love them. I need to just sit down with a sketchpad more. You've inspired me. Happy New Year!
