My first acrylic painting! It surprised me how bright the paints are. This is on a 5"x7" Art Board. I didnt' have gesso so I draw the face on paper and glued the paper to the board and then painted over that. Then I used ink to darken the lines and some pencil for shading on the hands. What did I learn? I like the results alot. Very bright, very textile compared to markers. But messy. I really don't like mess which is probably why I like markers. I don't like to mix paints so I bought the same favorite colors that are in my markers.
Will I paint more? I sure will. I have the day off and did this in the morning. I'm heading off to the art store for a few more boards.
I used liquitex soft acrylics and golden fluids. I don't like thick paint so I mixed the soft acrylics with water for a watercolor look but I think they're brighter then watercolors.
And I painted the sides of the board black. And added a thin layer of semi gloss soft gel for protection (didn't have any varnish). The board is thick enough to stand on it's own.
And this is the back. It doesn't need a frame. It hangs with a nail on the wall.
And this one I scanned.
Sooo excited to see your first painting!I've been waiting since you mentioned it, LOL. Love the color you use, so rich and vibrant. And yes, it's still so your style.I love acrylic cuz it gives you the pleasure of painting but won't let you wait long!

Ooohh - I do like this very much! You should give acrylic inks a try, too - while you're experimenting - very fluid like watercolor but INTENSE and immovable once dry.

Hi. I saw your acrylics are the ones used for crafts which come in bottles as opposed to the ones that come in tubes (Windsor & Newton, tec). Maybe that's the difference between dull & vivid colors. Thumbs up!
