More art store saling today (is there an action verb for going to sales?). I made the last discovery of the year. It's so nice to not know something (that everyone else does) and discover it and think it's the greatest thing ever. Watercolor crayons and pencils - yep. I've solved my dilemma of messy paint. It's really neat. I just wet the tip with one of those little water brushes and there's color. It's magic. And they come in loads of colors - even flesh tone (mine).
My main thing (can't use the resolution or goal word which is why I say portfolio instead of journal) for this year is to concentrate on watercolor. It took 2 years to learn to draw (still learning of course) so I'm going to put the same concentration into watercolor as I did into drawing. It's called transference of obsession or at least it would be if there was a medical term for it.
And so here are the last 2 watercolors of the year and I hope you all have a very happy new one.
I'm excited to stay with you this year and see where you will take this newly directed obsession of yours. I decided to do 200 drawings this year, which I realize pales in comparison to what you do; but you are one of my favorite art/sketch bloggers, so I'll just keep trying to keep up!

Hey Jim, yes I draw alot. But mine are small and fast and colored with markers. I have a feeling that the watercolors are going to slow me down a bit. But you stick with me and I'll stick with you because you're one of my favorite art bloggers!

Oh. Should have told you about the watercolor pencils and crayons, huh? I just didn't think about it! :-D 2007 should be fun -- I'm looking forward to what you accomplish with your "things" in your "portfolio"! (And I decided on 500 Objects - not that there will really be 500, or maybe there will -- 500 just sounded so, well, oriental and complete.)
:-D Happy 2007!

congrats on the 'discovery' of watersoluable crayons. I love them, and use them in my sketchbook moleskine cuz even though the pages are heavyweight, they don't like watercolors. And yahoo--you worked in a journal! I just LOVE your borders, by the way.
