Really, it's the most beautiful countertop in the world, more then any countertop that's ever been installed. And it sure better last for the 50 yrs or more for all I paid. Now, would you like to hear the story about my kitchen appliances?
I ordered them over 2 months ago from Home Depot. But they couldn't be delivered until the contractor was ready. Well he was ready so I called them today when I got home from work. Oh that order was canceled. What? I'm paying for it, it can't be canceled. We only hold orders for 60 days. But I'm paying for it. No problemo - just go back to Home Depot and reorder. Ok, so 5pm off I go to HD. No problemo - we'll just refund and order all over again. Ok, so do all the paper work, get all the envelops - I have a collection of Home Depot envelopes and invoices. The guy calls the GE factory to set deliver for next Friday. Oh we're out of stock on the oven. Huh? We're behind in manufacturing them so we don't know when the oven will be available. Does she what the other appliances? NO SHE DOESN'T, IT'S A SET YOU OVERPAID PERSON! So, the Home Depot guy had to cancel and refund everything all over again.
I had to choose a totally different set of appliances. And I actually picked the first one I liked before I ordered the ones I did. The ones canceled were graphite color - dark dark gray but not black. This time around I got clean steel. It looks like stainless steel but isn't and it's magnetic and let me tell you no one magnet will be on that thing. They all scratch. Bonus is that it costs a few hundred less and that savings went toward buying the extended warranty on the washer/dryer. So 2 hours later here I am feeding the cats, typing this, filing the Home Depot envelopes, figuring out which papers to send n for the rebates and going to sleep.
Renovation is just the nicest experience isn't it?
Here's a pix of the kitchen so far. The sink is in and so are all the cabinets. I think he might paint tomorrow. Color? It's California Parakeet, I guess they run out of names too. It's sort of a light lime. You can't tell it's the most beautiful countertop in the world from this pix can you? But it is. And it's not solid white. It's off white with colored specs.
There's going to be a glass shelf under that 1/2 cabinet and a little light above. The sink is extra deep and the 3 center holes are the faucet in the center, the hot/cold in one handle on the left and the right of the faucet is the spray. The extra hole on the far right? That's a faucet for the filtered water. I forgot to tell the contractor that I'm a lefty. I'll live with it. And those are my test tiles. There'll be about 10 of them randomly placed on the wall but not above the sink or oven.
That's it for tonight. I'll post another pix if he paints.
ai yi yi. And I thought my Lowes Shower door experience was frustrating and painful! Nothing compared to your dishwasher dilema, fridge fiasco, stove saga, washer/dryer debacle!
Gorgeous countertop indeed. what's the brand and color? I'm getting Corian Festival on Tuesday! Love the tiles. Can't wait to see the next photos.
