I said goodbye to Gertie this morning. Monday evening and Tuesday I tried force feeding her the food. She was just so unhappy. I called the vet and she said it was time. So I took her in this morning and it was very hard. Leo and Zoe were both at the vet when I made the decision. But Gertie, I had to take to the vet. After the vet said she was so tired, it went very quickly and I had made the right decision. I wanted her to go before the pain and she did.
I guess it must seem odd to people who've never had a pet. The thing is that they're not pets, they're family. The kind that doesn't judge you, that loves you unconditionally and that kind of love is very precious, in lovers or little furry creatures.
I have over 50 drawings I did of Gertie in the last few days. Here are a few.
The apartment is very quiet now and I miss her very much. My little muse.
Dear Janey,
I am so sorry to read about your beloved Gertie. Pets are indeed a very special gift to our lives and I can only imagine how much you will miss her. Please know that you are in my thoughts as you deal with this huge loss.

Janey,
I am sorry for your loss. I know just how painful this is. I had to do the same for my Cooper and Winston within two weeks of each other. My heart truly goes out to you.

Bit much being a grown up aint it:0) But know for Gertie you were listening and even though what you heard was hard you were true to her wee life right til the end, that's the kind of unconditional love she will have understood. Fabulous that you managed so many drawings in her final days, a gertie zine one day eh:0) Take care.

Oh Janey, I haven't visited in a while and look what I find when I do! I'm so sad for you. What a couple of years you've had! Thinking of you. xxx
