Shoes

Every time I see Hoarders I want to clean out my closet. Only my closets are fine. I do have several pairs of black sneakers but that's because I can't wear shoes after my accident. Ok well 5 pairs of black sneakers, the same black sketchers. The upside of course it that I get to wear sneakers to work. It does simplify things, black pants and black sneakers. Sure makes it easy to get dressed in the morning.  

Little Lost

Watercolor crayons colors are so much more intense then then regular crayons. And I'm starting to get used to my new siggy.
 

Tie Da Quilt

This one is flannel and tied. See, I used red threads and I added tassels too. Twin size on a 8"x5" sketchbook. I wonder if I can add these to flickr quilt groups.

 

I lined my sharpies up instead of the fabric. That's shelf liner. I cut up a big sheet in different sizes. Helps to keep things on the drawing table since it's at an angle. And I think maybe it's time to change the paper on the board.

  

 

Gracie on a Sunday

My cat's cuter then your cat.  No, that's just rude.  They're all cute.  Except my cat's really cute.

Gracie does not like to be brushed.  She just does not.  She gives me this guilt inspiring look and I just crumble and give her some treats.  

And then I rub her tummy and she's off to her gazzilion nap of the day.

 

 
 
 

 

Janey's Illustrated Guide to Quilts

I disappeared because I've been busy quilting for my soon to be great niece.  One quilt is completed and posted.  I have 2 tops done and waiting for backs and one more started.  Can a baby have too many quilts?  

Here are 2 quilts I have finished and 1 ufo.  They were inspired by the Gees Bend quilts.  The exhibit was here at the Ft Lauderdale Museum 2 years ago.  Somethings are so beautiful, they make your heart skip a beat.  Like butterflies or weeping willows or buttercups or a Gees Bend quilt.

Heather's a favorite

Heather is an artist who does dog portraits and they're just great.  Each of them is a real character, the color, the composition make for some really interesting work.  Makes me want to got out and get a dog.  Oops, just got a look from Violet on that.  Guess I'll just stick to drawing them.

Mom in the sun

I think this is the last Mom drawing. At least until Mom's Day. I have to choose 2 to frame. This is the 3rd try on this pose. The other 2 were black and grays and she looked a little too zombish. I colored this with flat colored pencils. I wanted some texture since the gray and black is so smooth. These are all 8 1/2 x 11. I like this technique so I'll certainly do more after Sunday. I have enough photos to keep me busy for a very long time. I wonder if mom will see herself in them. I hope so.

The Forgetting Chamber

Rearranging my books and found The Child Buyer by John Hersey. Hadn't read this is so long but the last paragraph always stayed with me.

The boy wonders if memories are like a kind of picture, coming in and out of your mind when you need them. "I was wondering about the Forgetting Chamber. If all the pictures went out, if I forgot everything, where would they go? Just out into the air? Into the sky? Back home, around my bed, where my dreams stay?"

This is my mom again, early '40s I think. I have several albums of photos from the late '30s to early 60's. There are a few photos of me as a baby and when I was 5 or 6. Mostly my parents and their friends, on vacation, at parities.
