The Cat of Many Names

Surfing the web and I came across this post.  Davina's cat is very sick and though she's hoping for the best, she know's the worst is probable.  Having to put 4 cats to sleep in the last 2 years, I know how feels.  She posted the nicest photo of her cat and dog, perfect buddies.  I had to draw them.

I'm hoping for the best too.

Thin Mint Quilt

I just listed Think Mint in my Etsy shop. 

The quilt is colored with sharpies on 9"x7" paper. The image is smaller so there's room for framing. It will be shipped via Priority Mail (USA) and First Class everywhere else and in a clear sleeve with a backing board for protection

Quilts take forever to do.  But I have to use up all that left over fabric right?

That's a sheet of cardstock under the page since markers will go through the paper.  This is in my Illustrated Journal of Quilts sketchbook.  I may still be journal challenged but these Barnes and Nobles sketchbooks are great.  Wonderfully smooth paper, thick chipboard covers and inexpensive.  Perfect for someone who is absolutely terrified of putting a mark in a moleskin.

Quilts, Quilts and a Rug

I updated my Etsy shop with quilt drawings.  The first one I finished last night and the others are from late last year and this year.  They're all drawn in my Illustrated Guide to Quilts (now Textiles since there's a rug in there).  

The sketchbook is from Barnes & Noble and the paper nice and heavy and smooth.  It takes pen very well and even some dry watercolor.  The paper is archival and the drawings are colored with sharpies.  The paper is 9"x7" but the images are smaller so there's room for framing.  All the quilt drawings can be view 2 ways making it easier to place the framed drawing on your wall.

This one is my favorite so far.  I think I should call it Thank You Anna Williams.  Amazing quilter from LA.  No rulers, no templates - just a need to be creative and make a quilt.

 

And a half log cabin.  Log cabins are my favorite blocks.  Endless possibilities.

And the oven rug that changed the name of my Illustrated Guide.

 

 

Distractions in Pink

Watching the news, going from pity to fear and back again, what if it happened here? what would we do?  Maybe not what if, maybe when will it?  3 mile island x 10?  x 100?  Gov't reaction to New Orleans wasn't very confidence inspiring.

Driving home from work today I found myself calculating how are far I lived from the beach. 4 miles.  6? Am I west of the highest point in town or east of it?  Florida's pretty flat.  The highest point here isn't much.  And would it make any difference.  Officials here say a tsunami is possible but unlikely to hit S Florida.  I understand that.  But on the drive home tomorrow I'll still think about how far from the beach I am.

And with that happy thought, here are some distractions.

 

Pretty in Pink

Everyone looks pretty in pink right?  It's a positive color, we certainly need some of that positive vibe right now.

I drew these with a .3 pen and then went over it with a big sharpie.

And then there's Elvis

I'm very fond of Elvis.  He's not for sale.  I've started a few more of these with borders.  I'll post them soon.

Animal Crackers

I did these watercolors in 2008. Downsizing a bit and listed them in my Etsy shop. These are a series of animal portraits with maybe a little excessive borders. The actual painting didn't take that long but those borders sure did. I have a few more I'm working on and will post those soon.

This first one is Jewel.  I listed her last night and she sold today which is really encouraging.

By the sea

The unusual texture is due to Violet the tweet licking the paper.  

She started that excessive licking again and back in her collar.  I upped the dosage of the atopica.  It should take about a week for her to stop licking.  This stuff costs $52 a month, more if I have to give her 2 pills instead of one a day. Of course all this happens 3 days after her checkup and the vet said isn't it nice the atopica is working so well.   She's lucky she's cute.
